Celtic Sparks
Celtic Sparks follows in the footsteps of shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, productions that also made the tradition of Irish music and dance incredibly popular in the Netherlands. With their debut performance 'A Trip to Ballygonefishin' (2023), they attracted full houses for two consecutive seasons and received nothing but glowing reviews.
In the follow-up 'On to Gweedore' they delve a little deeper into the Irish tradition. The program consists entirely of original compositions and choreographies, ranging from Celtic ballads to the well-known drumming Irish tap dance.
With more than 17 dancers and musicians (including players of the traditional bodhran and uilleann pipes) on stage, Celtic Sparks is a production of great magnitude. Driving forces are dancer Rosalie Wagenaar, founder of the Rose Irish Dance School and dancer with folk group Rapalje, and band leader/musician/composer Tijn Berends. Together with 'On to Gweedore,' they have once again created a captivating performance that brings the magic of Ireland to Dutch theaters.
